The last few years have been a challenge and each year seemed to get more challenging, From neighbors poisoning our water supply, to them draining their land onto ours and flooding our property destroying 1/4 of our pasture. This new year brings some new challenges and several goals.
This year we intend to go from being a Not for Profit, to a Non-Profit, though we intend for every penny we make to go right back to the animals, this change will allow us access to more help to continue our work as well as expand what we do to helping others off site with their own Farm and Animals rescue goals.
We plan to fence more property further up the mountain to give the animals more space to wander and play as well as post the entire border of our property as a wildlife sanctuary, meaning the only shooting done anymore will be with a camera.
We are hoping to grow our flock of endangered Roman Tufted Geese and assist a few other interested farmers in acquiring other endangered heritage breed animals to help bring them back to healthy numbers.
What was once our little farm shop is being converted into a full sized classroom to accommodate larger numbers of students.
We've created two new garden areas. One that will strictly grow food for the animals, and the other to grow rare heirloom varieties of vegetables.
The old garden area will be used to grow cut flowers and Dye plants.
We hope to bring bees back to the farm this year.
We are searching for an interested party in exploring our forest for the sake of tapping some of the ancient and massive maple trees we have so that we can have a bit of maple syrup made from the sap gathered here at the sanctuary.
There is so much we want get done this year and spring is swiftly approaching.
We hope you will join us in these new adventures and stay up to date here where we'll be posting other new and exciting surprises we have planned.
Wishing you all a Happy, Safe and Prosperous 2024!
The Serendipitous Shepherdess
